Cone beam computed tomography is a diagnostic tool that uses a scanner to obtain three-dimensional images in, the most relevant parameters that must be taken into account in the equipment are: the size of the visual field, exposure time, current voltage tube and rotation degree of the plane around the patient. This technique allows to observe images in three planes, reducing the superposition of anatomical structures, identifying in detail the internal morphology of teeth, alterations such as perforations, resorption zones, periapical lesions, root fractures and the identification of lesions of non-odontogenic origin. Disadvantages include low spatial resolution, dispersion and hardening of the beam due to the presence of metallic structures such as crowns, implants and intraradicular retention nuclei. It is important to highlight that a three-dimensional image provides greater reliability and accuracy for the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of endodontic treatments.
