Abstract

Objective: the objective of this work was to determine the association that can exist between the functional physical conditions (CFF) and the oral hygiene in the children.
Material and Methods: An analytical observational cross sectional study was made. The sample was integrated by 70 children who went to the child clinics of the USTA. We considered like exit variable the level of oral hygiene and how explanation variables the other. The simple statistical analysis included the calculation of summary measures; in the bivaried analysis test of square Chi or Fisher Exact test by the qualitative variables and for quantitative the student t or Wilcoxon ranks test were applied depending on the distribution of the data. By the multivaried analysis a binomial regression was applied and RR and its respective confidence intervals were calculated.
Results: The protective factors were come from the urban zone, to have mothers with secondary or primary educative level, alteration of the functional physical conditioning and use of the dental brush they and the variables related to general diseases (gastric, nervous and muscular alterations) as well as the pain and specifically the oral pain behaved like risk factors to have bad oral hygiene
Conclusion: The CFF was associated like a potential protective factor and that the care and the supervision of the mother could be constituted in key elements to obtain that the children have a good oral hygiene
