About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The REVISTA TEMAS is the dissemination tool of the Humanities Department of Santo Tomás University, Bucaramanga. It is an annual publication oriented toward the divulgation of the research processes in Social Science, Humanities and Education, conducted by the teachers of the institution and other centers of higher education around the world. The journal serves the national and international scientific community, university students and people interested in updating their knowledge in issues regarding humanities and pedagogy.

Author Guidelines

REQUIREMENTS FOR ARTICLES PUBLICATION

The articles must be directly related to the field of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. The journal will publish scientific articles, articles based on research results or articles achieved through interpretative work. They must be unpublished and original as well as submitted exclusively to Revista TEMAS.

It is necessary to underline that the Índice Nacional de Publindex relies on a committee of experts verifying the originality and scientific quality of the published documents.

Publindex, in the interest of promoting scientific quality of the publications, includes the following typology for articles:

ARTICLES OF RESEARCH AND INNOVATION: Original and unpublished production, published in a scientific or academic journal, product of research processes, reflection or review, that has been evaluated through a peer review process. According to this new policy of Publindex, it is considered that the documents published must follow this classification:

  1. Article of scientific research and technology. Documents that present, in a detailed manner, the original results of completed research projects. The structure generally used is divided in four parts: introduction, methodology, results and conclusions.

  2. Article of reflection. Documents that present research results from an analytic, interpretative or critical perspective of the author with regards to a specific topic, invoking original sources.

  3. Review article. Documents that provide the analysis, systematization and integration of results emanating from a completed research published or unpublished, in the field of science or technology, with the aim of rendering an account of achievements and tendencies in the area of development. These documents are characterized by a careful bibliographical review of at least 50 references.

Publishing criteria

EDITORIAL POLICY

General guidance:

Revista TEMAS accepts articles in the following languages: Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and Italian.

The text is presented on magnetic media, preferably a Word document, within a maximum of 25 pages, letter size and spacing 1.5 following the APA Style – Sixth Edition. The symbols and abbreviations should be defined the first time they are mentioned.

Tables and figures should be numbered, starting with number 1; the title should be in capital letters, located on the top and Arial 14. Tables and Figures should be referenced, Arial 10.

Articles will be accepted for publication under the approval by academic peers. In all cases, the results of the evaluation with the arguments that support the decision of the Arbitration Committee, will be communicated to the authors. The accepted article, subject to change, must meet the deadline for corrections established by the Editorial Committee. Finally, in order to be published, the cession of rights must be signed.

The Editorial Committee may refrain from sending the article to peer review if it does not meet the established structure and presentation, or if it does not fit with the topic of the journal.

Each article must be accompanied by the full Curriculum Vitae of the author, including the publications of the last two years. It is necessary to specify how the article should be cited.

Author (Font size: Arial 11)

Abstract

(Font size: Arial 11, 250 words maximum. The abstract should be in Spanish and English.)

Keywords

(Font size: Arial 11, minimum 5 words. Words should be in Spanish and English.)

The article should be organized according to the following structure (Font size: Arial 12):

  • Introduction

  • Methodology

  • Body of work or research results

  • Conclusions

  • Bibliography (In alphabetic order and following the APA Style standards – Sixth Edition. Only referenced sources in the text should appear in the bibliography.)
