The development of Colombian cities has mainly been characterized by economic and social dynamics that in turn have generated several physical transformations, nowadays evident in many areas of the urban fabric. This article presents a preliminary analysis of the urban transformations that have been identified in the Cañaveral sector, mainly generated by the economic development of the area. This sector which belongs to the municipality of Floridablanca, Santander, is one of the components of the Metropolitan Area of Bucaramanga and was designed more than 40 years ago for residential use. To conduct the analysis, information gathered from the field visits as well as a chronological study of public documents and photographs serve as a starting point, allowing a chronological organization of the land transformation processes. Thus, the article testifies the emergence of new infrastructure networks and architectural objects focused on the economic development of a sector but, due to its lack of projection, generated negative impacts that affected the quality of life of their inhabitants.Downloads
