Abstract

This training experience has been designed to address the scarce incursions in the study of contemporary documentary film. We focus on female directed cinema in Spain and in Spanish-speaking Latin American Countries. It is therefore suggested an approach based on the field theories of Francesco Casetti, the feminist film studies and the later specific analysis of documentary film that emerged in the 1990s, especially the scheme developed by Bill Nichols. The methodology employed for the workshop, taught in the context of the Gendercom congress at the University of Seville, was based on the selection of the filmographies of 18 female directors, with a sum of 100 titles in the sample. It has been classified according to 7 thematic axes. In response to the Covid-19 virus situation, its celebration has turned it into an international academic activity.
